Join the Continental Army
- see all dates
Visit Valley Forge National Historical Park to experience a day in the life of the continental soldier. Recruits are mustered, or registered, by receiving enlistment papers and continental currency, being issued wooden (dummy) muskets, and learning how to stand and march.
Children are trained by park rangers who are dressed in continental uniform. There are four sessions and visitors are encouraged to attend each session as children can move up in the ranks. Different topics are discussed each month and build upon the previous session. The Continental Army program is for children 7 and older.
Children that can not attend in all four sessions are invited to visit any session and participate in The Army Essentials program. This program is for children of any age and teaches the basic drills and commands of the Continental Army.
Sign in at the Visitors Center by 10:45 AM. Remember that the activities take place outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
