Gymnastics classes are the perfect kids' activity for building confidence, flexibility, and strength. It’s also a great activity for all ages, from toddlers through teens. And, many New Jersey gyms have both traditional gymnastics programs and competitive teams, plus extra offerings like ninja, tumbling (great for cheerleaders and dancers), and open play.

So, whatever your kid's speed, we've compiled this list of more than a dozen great gymnastics programs throughout New Jersey.

Top Gymnastics Classes for Kids in Central NJ

1. Garden State Trampoline Academy — Millstone

If your child is most interested in jumping and flipping, these trampoline and tumbling classes are a perfect choice. Kids classes go from walking age through age 17, and recreational and competitive classes are available.

2. Head Over Heels — Parlin, Middletown, East Brunswick, Shrewsbury

Whether your child wants to try tumbling, gymnastics, dance, or NinjaZone, you’ll find a great class at Head Over Heels. Classes start at ages 6 months old and go through teens. Students can also register to attend special events, open gym, and story time.

3. Monmouth Gymnastics — Morganville

Come to Monmouth Gymnastics for gymnastics and tumbling classes, or try open play with bouncing, foam pit, small rock wall, tunnels, slides, and a mini bounce house. The gym has special needs' classes with small group instruction and boys' ninja classes.

4. Paramount Gymnastics — Hillsborough

This gym has some great recreational classes for kids, starting with parent-child classes for kids as young as 10 months old. Starting at age 3, kids can take classes on their own, focusing on tumbling, beam, and bars. Another option is ninja classes for ages 3-11. Competitive programs are also available by invitation only.

5. Starz Gymnastics — East Brunswick

This gym has a large preschool program, recreational gymnastics, and pre-team and XCEL team programs. In addition, the Center Stage Dance and Theatre School is housed in the same facility and offers classes in dance, acting, and musical theater.

6. Aeon — Hillsdale

At Aeon, kids ages 1.5 through 4 can do Little Movers classes with obstacle courses, trampoline time, low bars, and the foam pit. Starting at age 5, kids can try classes in tumble & cheer, gymnastics, or ninja. Competitive programs are available by invitation.

7. Diamond Gymnastics — East Hanover

Diamond has a 24,000 square-foot facility and offers classes in gymnastics and gymnastics-related activities (like cheerleading and tumbling). Classes use the trampolines, tumble track, foam pit, rock wall, and other apparatus. Classes go from 15 months to teens.

8. Elite Gymnastics — Hawthorne

Elite puts lots of classes under one roof, like rec and competitive gymnastics, parent & me, swimming, cheerleading, rock climbing, combo classes, and NinjaZone. Structured classes start at around age 4. Elite also has parent and me fitness classes, starting with infant exercise through preschool munchkins.

9. Olympika — Cranford, Mountainside

​Kids of all levels can take classes at this gym, with the youngest set participating in grown-up/child classes. In addition to traditional gymnastics classes, this gym offers parkour, tumbling, and acro dance.

10. Riverview Gymnastics — Wayne

Riverview has lots of time slots for rec gymnastics and tumbling classes for kids 5 and over (plus some adult classes if parents want to get in on the act!). Weekend and weekday classes are offered for preschoolers, and kids ages 1-5 can do the weekday Jumping Beans open play times. Open Gym and Parents Night Out sessions are offered frequently. Riverview also has an Xcel competition team for more serious athletes.

11. Rainbow Gymnastics — Sewell

Parents of little ones ages 12-18 months can sign up for free, organized play and learn Rainbow Babies classes. Then, in Tiny Tumblers classes for toddlers, kids get to use preschool-sized equipment with parent participation. As children progress and age, they learn the different types of apparatus and move through leveled classes. They can also try tumbling classes.

12. Jersey Jets Gymnastics — Mount Laurel

At Jets, kids can start at age 2 with adult-and-me classes. All kids under 5 use inclined mats, slides, trapeze, tunnels, parachutes, and trampolines. Kids ages 5-18 work on the traditional gymnastics apparatus or choose tumbling classes.

13. TNT Elite - Maple Shade

TNT has adult/child classes and intro classes for preschoolers. Starting at age 5, the gym has various levels of tumbling and gymnastics, as well as intro cheer and competitive cheerleading.
